Becoming a Trusted Driving School

ADR School of Motoring was set up by Angelo Diaz Rodriguez in the Slough area way back in 1980. After working for the NHS, Angelo was looking for a long-term path that would allow him to work with and for the community, putting his friendly, easy-going and intuitive manner to best use.

After completing his standard training to qualify as an ADI, his thirst for knowledge drove him to take the IAM advanced driving course and RAC instructor’s course, to enable him to be the best instructor that he could be. Not content with focusing on cars, he also gained an HGV license back in his native Spain. He worked for a couple of local driving schools, but then decided to set up his own business to give himself the flexibility to teach in his own style and prioritise his values. Not being influenced by the pressures of a commercial enterprise, he was able to ensure that his pupils always got the time & attention that they needed.

Angelo soon became well known in the area and was regularly recommended by past pupils and other instructors alike, for both his excellent pass rate and his expertise in helping those who were nervous drivers or struggling to progress. Needless to say, with this reputation it’s no surprise to know that Angelo held the highest DVSA instructor’s grade since the scoring system was first introduced. Due to his gift for languages, he was also able to teach lessons in Spanish, Portuguese, Italian and basic French, plus give the essential driving commands in Polish, which helped pupils for whom English wasn’t their native language to feel at ease and allow them to fully concentrate on learning to drive.

Although Angelo had been supported by his wife on the financial administration side of the business since the beginning, ADR School of Motoring truly became a family business when his son David joined him as another instructor in 2005. During the years that followed they worked both with their own sets of pupils and also together, complementing each other, to ensure every pupil had the best possible support and lesson flexibility.

Over the years, Angelo has helped thousands of people pass their driving test in Slough and the surrounding areas, but in 2016 he moved to Grays in Essex for family reasons, so a whole new area was able to benefit from his teaching, whilst he still occasionally helped support David on the road in Berkshire.

After 40 years of dedicated service to his local communities and following the pandemic-enforced breaks in 2020 & 2021, Angelo decided to retire, handing over full control of the business to David, who continues to uphold his father’s standards and driving school reputation.

Reviews from Pupils

Many of Angelo’s pupils learnt to drive before the advent of the internet and social media, but word of mouth still spread to build his reputation and standing amongst driving instructors. A true test of past pupil’s trust in Angelo’s teaching has been proven by their choosing of ADR School of Motoring to teach their own children years later, and we are very proud of this influence on multiple generations.

Below are some of the more recent reviews given online by Angelo’s pupils in the later years.
